Principal's Welcome
As Principal of Yarrabah State School I welcome you to visit and explore our website.
Yarrabah State School caters for an indigenous student population enrolled from Pre-prep to year 10 across three separate campuses within the community of Yarrabah in Far North Queensland. A Special Education Unit supporting students across all campuses is located at the Primary campus with a specialist facility provided at the Secondary campus.
Yarrabah State School has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Education and is committed to providing high quality education for all students with a focus on achievement and continuous improvement.
The education offered by the Yarrabah State School promotes the holistic development of each individual and ensures that the students are provided with opportunities to prepare themselves for both their present and future life. The school is focussed on ensuring that students are afforded a range of opportunities to prepare themselves for senior schooling, further education and employment beyond school.
Valuing of cultural knowledge and perspectives, curriculum innovation and initiatives, are encouraged and supported as will be evident as you become familiar with our website. We have in recent years been committed to curriculum and organisational reform and have implemented change in these areas with student achievement and continuous improvement central to our practices.
An ethos of Respect is embedded in our school practices with a Respect Circle Framework used to guide our Supportive School Environment practices.
School priorities include
-
Literacy and numeracy competency
-
Personal growth and development that encourages self confidence
-
Opportunities to develop appropriate self-discipline, respect and appropriate social behaviours
-
Attendance, participation, engagement and retention to senior school and employment
-
Continuous improvement and achievement
I encourage you to explore our website and hope that you enjoy your visit.
